Jinwook Yeom
Artwork Description
Yeom Jinwook has experimented on standing on her own and explored the task of painting through a series of forest-paintings in monocolor. In the series, a monocolor layer has been added to the structure that is not fixed. In the structure, in which the artist’s intuition rejects prediction or reasoning, dialectic realization of brushes and color presupposes repeated labor. The square canvas with even length and width refuses the formality of center and edge, giving us the privilege to choose which way we see the canvas from the heaven to the earth, or from bottom to top. To the autonomy to choose which direction to see the canvas is added the beauty of color. The forest-painting that changes with seasons, with the passage of time, and with environment provides us with valuable aesthetic experience. The labor-act has been made complete in perceiving the objects of esthetic exploration and the origin of painting.
