Artwork Description

For several decades, Candida Höfer has made "portraits" of numerous emblematic buildings, true treasures around the world, such as Tlacochahuaya and other places. Each of the interiors it captures exists simultaneously in various socio-cultural and historical contexts, its current appearance has been shaped by years of long cultural and social history. By approaching this inaccessible and private life of public buildings and passing through the inherent difficulties of the perception of architecture, Höfer´s photographs return to public spaces the aura of unique works of art.
