Sean Shanahan artistic research focuses on contemporary painting exploring and challenging the boundaries of painting both materially and conceptually. Sean Shanahan since the 2000’s has began using MDF (Medium-density breboard) a material capable of absorbing the colour giving more exposure to the layers and the process his works undergo. ‘Air Choir’presents again a reference to music as Shanahan finds musical sematintic a perfect medium to describe his works rather than the over contaminated fine art vocabulary.
