PABLO ARRÁZOLA Colombia, 1991 In the Übermensch series, Pablo Arrázola draws on Nietzsche’s concept of the Übermensch—the “superman,” understood as the individual who transcends the limits imposed by the world and society. The artist approaches childhood as the first space where this impulse appears: a territory of freedom, imagination, and play. Through cut, torn, and folded paper, Arrázola presents childlike figures that embody the desire to overcome constraints and reshape reality, where vulnerability and strength coexist. *** En la serie Übermensch, Pablo Arrázola retoma el concepto del Übermensch de Nietzsche —el “superhombre”— entendido como aquel que trasciende los límites impuestos por el mundo y la sociedad. El artista aborda la infancia como el primer espacio donde surge este impulso: un territorio de libertad, imaginación y juego. A través de papeles cortados, rasgados y plegados, Arrázola presenta figuras infantiles que encarnan el deseo de superar restricciones y transformar la realidad, donde conviven vulnerabilidad y fuerza.
