Lise Johansson
Artwork Description
Within Frames juxtaposes miniature houses with the broader concept of home, examining identity and belonging through the lens of our surroundings. Using architectural models as metaphors, Johansson highlights the fragile line between the spaces we inhabit physically and the emotional or psychological spaces we carry within us. The series reflects on how “home” is not only a physical shelter but also a framework for memory, relationships, and identity. By reducing houses to small, delicate constructions, Johansson underscores both the vulnerability and resilience of these notions. The works invite viewers to consider how we frame our existence socially, personally, and collectively and how these frames can both protect and confine us. Visually, Within Frames is characterized by a striking minimalism and a careful balance of light, texture, and composition. The imagery evokes both intimacy and distance, raising questions about connection and disconnection, presence and absence.
