Jorge Rosano Gamboa
Artwork Description
Rosano Gamboa's tapestries are produced in collaboration with a family renowned in their Oaxacan village, Teotitlan del Valle, for their use of a pedal loom (telar de pedal) - a primitive loom made from a single tree trunk. Together, the artist and the family design tapestries inspired by the language of ancient local codexes, creating contemporary works that also serve as vessels of cultural and ecological wisdom. Wool and natural pigments ( here cochenilea)are produced on site.
