Artwork Description

Luis Renteria (Guadalajara, Mexico 1991) is a multidisciplinary artist educated in cinematography, with a focus on animated film. He lives and works between Barcelona and Guadalajara. He studied Textile Art at the Massana School and a Master in Research and Artistic Production at the University of Barcelona. In his work, he uses traditional techniques and references to popular art to address issues of social relevance through fiction and fantasy. He has received grants from the programs PECDA Jalisco 2021, FONCA Young Creators 2022, and FOCINE 2022 from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography. He has been a resident at the Hørvævsmuseet (2023), the Linen Museum in Denmark and the Fabra i Coats (2024) in Barcelona. His work has been featured in several national and international exhibitions, including the FAD Art Awards 2023 at the Disseny Hub in Barcelona.
